Mariam currently holds the position of Deputy General Counsel, BioPharmaceuticals in the Legal Department of AstraZeneca. In this role, she is responsible for leading the global legal team responsible for managing global litigation, including intellectual property litigation, research and development consulting, and global business strategies related to the company`s biopharmaceutical business. Oncology Legal is responsible for AZ`s oncology-related commercial and R&D risk management for the global teams and serves as the legal team for AstraZeneca`s oncology business in the United States. We are also responsible for all oncology-related disputes (including commercial, product liability and intellectual property disputes) and regulatory investigations. In its dealings with contractors and suppliers, AstraZeneca`s legal department applies external retention, business and practice guidelines.
